How many times can plastic be recycled?

Plastic can be recycled 2 to 10 times depending on its type.

Between 1.9 and 4.5 million tonnes of plastic waste are thrown away each year on French territory. But, currently, their recycling rate reaches only 26% . The remaining 74% is used in energy recovery, or buried in landfills.

And in France, only 3 types of plastic are actually recycled: PET, HDPE and PP.

For transparent packaging, recycled plastic is often mixed with virgin plastic to maintain transparency. In fact, recycled transparent plastic is darker than virgin plastic.
